Where Does Your Help Come From? – Psalm 121:1-2

I lift up my eyes to the mountains —
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of Heaven and earth.

Where does our help come from? The simple answer, as testified by the Psalmist, is the Lord. He is the Source of all good things. And being that the world is built upon a give-and-receive principle, a biblical truth of “what goes around comes around” (Give, and it will be given to you … for with the same measure you use, it will be measured [back] to you – Lk 6:38), God will oftentimes answer our prayer(s) through other people. This process, our willingness to help others and their willingness to help us, is the natural design of Creation and essential part of being a member of Christ’s Body.

God is the only One Who knows exactly what we need and who (on earth) can help us. Thus, the Lord strategically and lovingly brings certain people across our path to answer our prayers. Therefore, be sensitive to what God may be doing through each and every encounter you experience. He will use every situation to teach you to trust His Providence, sharpen your virtue, and recognize His hand at work in every scenario. There is no small detail of your life that God is not a part of.

So as you bring your needs to the foot of the Cross today, trust that God is assisting you in your mission. He already has the perfect person in mind. When your angel shows up, accept the help. Similarly, when you are called to be the helper, readily obey. You will be amazed at how much stronger you feel leaning on those called to carry the load with you, as well as when you help others carry theirs. Not to mention, God will bless you mightily for your trust and obedience. How incredible that every person we meet could be our next divine intervention — and, thus, our next opportunity for big blessing!

I lift up my eyes to the mountains — where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of Heaven and earth” –Psalm 121:1-2.

We ask You for help, Lord, but oftentimes overlook those sent to assist us in our mission. Please forgive us when this happens. Strengthen our eyes of faith in order to better discern those sent by You, as well as those we are called to help. And Lord, thank You also that life is never done independently. Thank You for creating people to need and to depend on one another so that we are never alone in our battles. As You lovingly send help into our lives today, please send those we can assist as well. It is in Your good and Holy Name we pray, Amen.
