You will show me the path to life…
God Will Show You the Path to Life – Psalm 16:11
You will show me the path to life,
abounding joy in Your presence,
the delights at Your right hand forever.
Though we commonly associate the words fear and fright with one another, they do not always mean the same thing. Having a fear of the Lord — a reverential fear — for example, means to highly respect the Lord. It means that we stand in awe of Him and the great power He beholds. God is, in fact, a God of love, compassion, mercy and joy. By reverently fearing Him, we give Him the honor He deserves as Lord and Savior. And when we give Him this due honor, seeking to be wholly immersed in His presence, we begin to experience His majesty on earth … the “path to life” becomes ever more clear.
Our Father in Heaven deeply desires for us to experience His abounding joy — not just in the after-life, but here today. He wants to show us the path that leads to true life, a life of Heavenly “delights forever.” Who wouldn’t want that? So if you have been holding back from God lately, withdrawing from His presence during times of uncertainty, shake that mindset immediately. Don’t let the enemy convince you that you don’t need God, that you can do it on your own, or that He isn’t capable of restoring your situation. Instead, pursue Him wholeheartedly and with zeal; seek unceasingly the path of life being offered to you — the only true path of peace and joy in this life. The Lord is indeed the Source of life’s greatest delights. But don’t just rejoice in this promise today, run to He Who is the giver of life and all good things!
“You will show me the path to life, abounding joy in Your presence, the delights at Your right hand forever” –Psalm 16:11.
Father, we stand in awe of who You are and what You are capable of; in reverential fear of Your greatness and glory. We humbly request today that You draw close to us, filling us with Your gifts of grace, mercy, love and peace. We need Your divine fruit in our life, perhaps more now than ever. And we know, Lord, that we cannot have any good thing detached from You. So keep us close, we humbly pray, and lead us along the righteous path everlasting. In Your good and Holy Name we pray, Amen.
