Let The Words Of My Mouth Be Acceptable In Your Sight – Psalm 19:14
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.
Reflection
It is good to remind ourselves once in awhile that God knows what we say and what we think. The good news is, if God knows what we say and what we think then He also knows what we need. He knows the deepest desires of our hearts before we ever utter a word. But this truth can also be a sobering reminder that we do not always say or think the right things. Truth be told, if we had to confess all the pondering that goes on in our minds on any given day we might not ever get out of the confessional! But thanks be to God, He does not expect perfection in order to accept us. The Lord’s acceptance is based on His complete and unconditional love for you. He wants you to know Him and trust Him as your best friend, your Rock, Redeemer and Good Father. God knows that when we really know Him, we will love Him; and when we love Him, we will want to live according to His ways … and living according to His ways will ultimately set us free. How amazingly perfect all of this works when we properly understand it. Today, trust God with all of you — with all of who you are including your words and your thoughts. Ask Him to direct all your ways according to His ways and take comfort in knowing that He accepts you, loves you and will properly guide you.
Prayer
Jesus, it is a relief to know that we are acceptable to You. That You love us and will redeem us despite our flaws and shortcomings. At all times, we rely solely on Your grace — and especially in those times when our words and thoughts are neither centered on love nor edifying. But we trust in Your Word, in Your love and in Your mercy. Thank You for redeeming us. Help us to grow in perfect virtue. It is in Your good and holy Name we pray, Amen.
