“Search me, God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts…”
Psalm 139:23
Search Me, God, and Know My Heart – Psalm 139:23-24
Search me, God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.
True searching requires looking in every available place to see what is there. When we ask God to search our heart, we are inviting Him in to every area of our lives. Vulnerability before the Lord is hard — particularly when we are battling pride, sin, or painful feelings of guilt. But the key to peace, joy and breakthrough is to ask God to search every part of our being; to test us and to see if there is any offensive way in us so that we may be led “in the way everlasting.”
Today, allow God to search your mind, heart, thoughts and ways. Get comfortable being humble and vulnerable before Him, trusting that in so doing He will bring about something wonderful — miraculous — in your life. Tell Him how you feel and allow Him to pave the way forward from there. In your state of humility, you will most profoundly feel the love of God’s presence; you will be reminded that you can tell Him everything and that He will make all things brand new.
Lord, we are grateful that You know us so well. Not only did You create us, but You have been with us every step of the way. Before we ever approach the Throne of Grace, You understand our past, present and future. Help us to be strong as we invite You in to every area of our lives. We fully trust that You will make all things good and right again. Amen.
