Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God: Epiphany – Luke 1
And Mary said: “My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord; my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.”
Christmastime is a magnifier. If things are going well in life, Christmas tends to magnify that goodness. Unfortunately, the opposite is also true. If you are struggling, the Christmas season may make the struggle seem even more intense.
Rather than focusing on yourself this Christmas, on what you have and what you are, try focusing on Christ. In Luke 1:46, Mary says her soul “magnifies the Lord.” We, like Mary, are told to magnify Him, to glorify Him. What does that mean? Among other things, magnify simply means “to make bigger.” What if you made God a bigger part of your life? Not just during the Christmas season but every day? If you allow His goodness, His grace, and His truth to enter into your life … He will transform it.
Pray today for your soul to magnify the Lord’s presence as you reflect on the miracle of the birth of Jesus, fully man and fully God.
