13 Best Bible Verses In Times of Trouble:

As Job found out, trouble is no respecter of persons (Job 5:7; 14:1). The people who lived during biblical times were no stranger to the trials and tribulations of life. Nor are we today. In fact, you are more than likely passing through some sort of trouble right now. The difference between those who can more easily rise above the trial and those who cannot, are those who are well acquainted with the character of God. The loving, protecting Father Who is quick to console His children. He comforted the people of old then, and He certainly comforts us now. No matter what you’re going through today, your Heavenly Father wants to comfort you.

Take some time to read over these 13 Best Bible Verses In Times of Trouble. Prayerfully meditate on the stories of people of past who’ve persevered and overcome with God’s providence. Not only will it strengthen your faith, it’ll encourage you to persevere. His Word is a reminder to our soul that He is always in control. He will deliver us. We need only to trust Him.

13 Best Bible Verses In Times of Trouble

Psalm 121:1-2

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of Heaven and earth.

For Reflection: No matter what you are going through today, remember that, ultimately, your help comes from the Lord. Faithful friends and family may be helpful at times, but it is the Lord Who has final authority (and power) to deliver you.

Nahum 1:7

The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; And He knows those who trust in Him.

For Reflection: We must remember that the Lord is good. He is our stronghold. Everything He does is for our greater benefit. So we can trust Him in all situations, at all times. In fact, we are exhorted to. And the Lord knows and honors those who do.

Psalm 46:1

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

For Reflection: Who is our refuge and our strength? An ever-present help in trouble? It will not be an employee, a neighbor, or even a family member. That’s not to say they won’t be of help from time to time, but they simply don’t have the divine wherewithal to know what’s best. Only God knows the beginning from the end; the end from the beginning. Only God knows the perfect way in which we should go. And only God is ever-present, all-knowing, and all-powerful.

2 Corinthians 4:8-9

We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.

For Reflection: We are not crushed, in despair, abandoned or destroyed because the good Lord goes with us wherever we go. No matter how bad things may feel, hard-pressed on every side, perplexed, persecuted or even struck down, the Lord has already decided — we are victorious! Trust Him.

John 14:1

Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.

For Reflection: Jesus reminds us that He is the way, the Truth, and the Light. And just as our forefathers experienced first-hand, we too can trust in His saving grace and mercy in our time of need. So do not let your heart be troubled. Jesus is with you now and for all time. And if He is with you, who dare be against you?

Isaiah 43:2

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you.

For Reflection: Our Lord assures us that He is with us wherever we go. No waters will be too rough; no fire too enflamed; no trial too heavy to bear. With Jesus, we can do all things with supernatural strength, fortitude, and wisdom. We need only to believe that with Him, nothing is impossible.

Psalm 31:7

I will be glad and rejoice in Your mercy, for You have considered my trouble; You have known my soul in adversities.

For Reflection: The Lord Who sits upon the Heavenly throne considers all your troubles. Praise God! He knows exactly what you are going through and what you need. He knows full well your every adversity. So even with all your trouble today, rejoice in Him and in His promise to deliver those who love Him.

Hebrews 4:15-16

For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have One Who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet He did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

For Reflection: How great it is to know that our Lord, the One to Whom we pray and trust, understands our plight. He has compassion and empathy for what we endure because, after all, He too experienced our world. Not only as God, but as man. Therefore, we can approach the Throne of Grace with confidence knowing His great love, patience and desire to help us.

Psalm 23:4

Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

For Reflection: Even when you walk through the darkest seasons of life, you can be sure that you are not alone. God Himself is with you. His all powerful rod and staff is there to protect and comfort you.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, Who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.

For Reflection: When we are under pressure, we are to praise God in faith. We know that our Lord is compassionate to our every need; the One who comforts us in every trouble. And, being that we so graciously received His mercy in our time of need, we then are called to comfort others in theirs.

Psalm 138:7

Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me; You will stretch out Your hand against my enemies, and Your right hand will save me.

For Reflection: Not only will God revive and restore you, He will also vindicate you! He promises to stretch out His mighty hand against your enemies and save you from all harm. With faith – as a child of God – you have nothing to fear!

Matthew 5:4

Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

For Reflection: So simple and so true. God blesses those who mourn. He promises to comfort you in your trouble. Draw near to Him!

Psalm 55:22

Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken.

For Reflection: Why will the Lord sustain you if you cast all your cares on Him? Because in doing so you prove your faith. More than anything else, the Lord requires faith. It is faith that moves the mountain, enacts the mighty hand of our Lord in life, and ultimately sets us free. The Lord will never allow the righteous (the faithful) to be shaken. So today, cast all your care on Him!

Anytime you’re feeling down-trodden and troubled, read over these Words of promise. Remember the powerful Words in Jeremiah: “You will find Me when you seek Me with all your heart” -Jeremiah 29:13. Keep seeking, keep knocking, keep believing. The Lord will deliver you from all your trouble — this is His divine promise.
