7 Powerful Holy Hour of Adoration Prayers

7 Powerful Holy Hour of Adoration Prayers

Before Jesus ascended into Heaven, He promised His disciples (and all of us) that He would be with them until the very end of time. And one thing is for sure, Jesus always keeps His promises.

Eucharistic adoration is an extension and perpetuation of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. The Consecrated Host is Jesus Himself and He remains on the altar calling us to visit Him and to spend at least one hour with Him.

The following 7 Powerful Adoration Prayers are meant to assist you while focusing your mind and heart to be and remain open to God’s Presence as you rest in His deep embrace before the tabernacle. There is no doubt, time spent with Him is our greatest treasure here on earth.

7 Powerful Holy Hour of Adoration Prayers

Anima Christi

Soul of Christ, sanctify me;
Body of Christ, save me;
Water from the side of Christ, wash me;
Passion of Christ, strengthen me;
O good Jesus, hear me;
Within Your wounds, hide me;
Separated from You, let me never be;
From the evil one, protect me;
At the hour of my death, call me;
And close to You, bid me;
That with Your saints, I may be,
praising You forever and ever.
Amen.

Act of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Eucharist. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul.

Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, please come at least spiritually into my heart.

I embrace You as being already here and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

Act of Humble Confidence

Dear Jesus, I come before You this day with hope, yet my hope is not in myself.

O Lord, my hope is in You, for You have accepted me.
In Baptism You made me a new creation, and You have given me power to become Your child. You are teaching me to surrender my fears, my pride, my selfishness, my lust, and my controlling attitudes to You.
In return, I receive Your peace, Your provision, Your guidance, and Your joy.

I am Yours, O Lord, and Yours I wish to be, now and forever. Amen.

Prayer before a Crucifix

Look down upon me, good and gentle Jesus, while before Your face I humbly kneel and, with a burning soul, pray and beseech You to fix deep in my heart lively sentiments of faith, hope, and charity; true contrition for my sins, and a firm purpose of amendment;

While I contemplate, with great love and tender pity, Your five most precious wounds, pondering over them within me and calling to mind the words which David, Your prophet, said of You, my Jesus: “They have pierced my hands and my feet; they numbered all my bones.” Amen.

Prayer to the Holy Face of Jesus

O Jesus, Who in Your bitter Passion became ‘the reproach of men and the Man of Sorrows’, I venerate Your Holy Face on which shone the beauty and gentleness of the Divinity. In those disfigured features I recognize Your infinite Love, and I long to love You and to make You loved. May I behold Your Glorious Face in Heaven! Amen.

[Prayer to the Holy Face of Jesus: Blessed Pope Pius IX rendition]

O my Jesus, cast upon us a look of mercy; turn Your Face towards each of us, as You did to Veronica; not that we may see It with our bodily eyes, for this we do not deserve, but turn It towards our hearts, so that, remembering You, we may ever draw from this fountain of strength the vigor necessary to sustain the combats of life. Amen.

[Prayer to the Holy Name of Jesus by St. Bernardine of Siena]

Jesus, Name full of glory, grace, love and strength! You are the refuge of those who repent, our banner of warfare in this life, the medicine of souls, the comfort of those who mourn, the delight of those who believe, the light of those who preach the true faith, the wages of those who toil, the healing of the sick.

To You our devotion aspires; by You our prayers are received; we delight in contemplating You. O Name of Jesus, You are the glory of all the saints for eternity. Amen.

Prayer for the Holy Souls of Purgatory

Eternal Father, I offer You the most precious Blood of Your Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the Masses said throughout the world today for all the holy souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal Church, those in my own home, and within my family. Amen.

[Secondary Prayer for the Souls in Purgatory]

O God, thank You so much for the gift of my life, my faith, my vocation, and for all the gifts You have so generously given me, from the least to the greatest. Please accept these prayers which I offer for all the holy souls in Purgatory:

*Now pray 7 times each: The Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be, and the Apostles’ Creed

A Final Word on Adoration

“A Holy Hour is not a devotion; it is a sharing in the work of redemption”
-Servant of God Fulton J. Sheen.

Spending time with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is truly the best way we can spend our time on earth. The Eucharist is really Christ Jesus: Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity. He is as real and present to us as He is to those in Heaven.

Let us cherish this gift we’ve been given and spend time we spend with our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament of Adoration as often as possible. May we learn to love the Lord ever more each time we encounter Him, and may He empower us to be His light to the world He so deeply loves.

Prayer of Thanks

“Give thanks to the Lord, Who is good, Whose love endures forever.
Let the house of Israel say: God’s love endures forever.
Let the house of Aaron say: God’s love endures forever.
Let those who fear the Lord say: God’s love endures forever.
You are my God, I give You thanks; my God, I offer You praise”

-Psalm 118:1-4, 28.
