Reflection
Who do you trust today? A family member? Close friend? Your pastor? More than likely, there are many more people you do not trust. And even those you do, you may only trust them in certain areas of your life. This is because even our closest friends, families and allies can only do so much. They are bound by the same fallen nature and finite knowledge about the future as we are. Fortunately, we do not have to rely on other people for life’s providence, protection, and guidance. Our loved ones are certainly here for us to walk through life with, comforting us in the good and the bad, but it is God who we are called to rely on for all things. He alone knows the beginning from the end and the end from the beginning. He alone knows exactly what will happen in the future, what you need, when, and how to get it. The Lord knows best how to protect you … for He alone is the Way, the Truth and the Life.
The psalmist knew this well. He knew God alone was his strength and perpetual shield. He experienced firsthand God’s healing touch and divine providence, to which he proclaimed: “I am helped, so my heart rejoices; with my song I praise Him.” If you are in need of God’s providence today, feeling overwhelmed, alone or uncertain, not really knowing anymore who to trust or where to turn for guidance, look no further than Almighty God. He is right beside you, waiting for you to rely on Him for all of your needs. In all Your ways, surrender to His divinity and He promises to make straight your path and your future.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, teach us to trust in You completely today. We sometimes lean on other people and other things for help – for guidance, wisdom and even provision. But we know that it is only You who can help us with all of our needs; it is only You who knows all things including how things will turn out in the future. Forgive us when we search the world for answers. Strengthen our faith and courage, and be with us as we step out of our comfort zone today — trusting all things to Your loving care. We love You. It is in Your good and Holy Name we pray, Amen.
