Let Us Come Before Him With a Song of Praise – Psalm 95:2
Let us come before Him with a song of praise,
joyfully sing out our psalms [of music and song].
When was the last time you gave yourself completely over to praise in God? A time of grateful worship for all that He has done and is doing? Not just singing along to words in Church, but really letting yourself be completely consumed in the presence and adoration of your Lord? Chances are, it’s been a minute. Our early ancestors knew the importance of this. They consistently praised Him whether they stood in the sunshine or pouring rain; whether on the peak or in the valley of life. This psalm reminds us to praise God every day. We can do that by praying Psalms of worship, singing aloud, or humbly kneeling in reverent prayer from time to time. All are easy yet powerful forms of praise and worship, and all of it matters most.
The world is noisy, confusing and particularly exhausting at times. But don’t let it distract you from the most important thing in this life: spending time with God – the Author and Finisher of your faith and eternal destiny. He alone can guide and protect you; leading you in the way you should go. Let this psalm and its reflection serve as a reminder to take some quiet time for just you and God today. Feel His gentle presence wash over you and fill every part of your being. Herein lies the power of life itself. He is the Source of all good and lasting things, without which you (or anyone else) can do nothing (Jn 15:5). Regardless of how much time you are able to devote to this worship exercise, revel in every moment spent with your Heavenly Father. It is during this time He will fill you with His transformative graces … a supernatural power that will equip you for the future.
Lord, we worship You with our whole heart this day. Give us the time in all of our days to reflect on how truly wonderful You are. Remind us of our need for You; fill us with Your power, love and an increase in faith, hope and courage. As we seek You, Lord, as we bow down in reverence of Your majesty, fill us with Your graces. We love you. It is in Your good and Holy Name we pray. Amen.
