from the grasp of those who are evil and cruel.
Reflection
Do you feel like you are having to pray this prayer today? If so, you are not alone. The sad reality of a fallen world is that there will always be those who are used by the enemy (knowingly or unknowingly) to hurt others (especially the faithful). But as a child of God, remember always the command of your Father: Fear not! You are not alone. You are joined with millions of your brothers and sisters in Christ here on earth, the arena of those who have gone before you, as well as a vast and powerful choir of angels. Remember also what God has promised you — that He goes with you wherever you go. Through the love of His Son, Jesus Christ, you have already been redeemed.
As you reflect on this psalm remember also that during His earthly life, Jesus suffered at the hands of hatred, falsehoods of the world and unfathomable cruelty. But He defeated evil by enduring in love, humility and prayer, rising again to new life. This is the hope that we all have, too. Through the strength and power of our Lord Jesus, we are able to rise above any evil regardless of how strong it may seem today. So instead of despairing when darkness and uncertainty looms, be hopeful in God. Praise Him! Believe in His promise that He has already paved the way for the victory … because He has.

Prayer
Jesus, thank You for giving humanity hope that one day all evil will be gone and creation will be restored. We pray today for all of those who are suffering because of cruelty and untruths, and we ask as Your children to deliver us from all malice, wickedness and snares of the devil. Let the world see Your Light through our lives and our ability to overcome challenges. Shine Your Light in all dark places, Lord, exposing what is set to do us harm. It is in You we place our trust. We love You. It is in Your good and Holy Name we pray. Amen.
