Be Gracious To Me According To Your Promise – Psalm 119

I have sought Your face with all my heart;
    be gracious to me according to Your promise.

Be Gracious To Me According To Your Promise – Psalm 119:58

I have sought Your face with all my heart;
    be gracious to me according to Your promise.

Reflection

Do you wake up in the morning filled with worried and anxious thoughts? Have you been asking from God but feel as though He is far away? Our hearts are often in turmoil because we lack the wisdom to know what is best for our lives, the best pathway forward. But God knows. In fact, God is the only One who can help us.

If God seems absent in giving you the answers you seek, choose to see it as an opportunity — an invitation — to seek Him more diligently; to get in proper alignment with His will. First, repent of your sins and align yourself with what He has asked of you (His commands and precepts). Seek His face throughout the day with your whole heart, and turn only to His Word (not the world’s) for guidance. When we give God all of who we are, all of what we’ve got, He promises to shower His favor and grace upon us — to answer our prayers and show us the best way forward for our lives. But we must do our part. We must first get into proper alignment with Him and His ways. When we do, we will proclaim as the Psalmist did: “I have sought Your face with all my heart; [now] be gracious to me according to Your promise!” And just like He delivered the Psalmist, so, too, will He deliver you.

Prayer

Lord, we don’t always know what You want us to do. But we take some of that responsibility, knowing in our hearts that we must better align our lives with Your divine will. Help us this day to seek more of Your face; to listen to Your voice over the voices of the world. We choose to trust in Your promise of grace knowing that when we are unsure, when we are lost (physically, emotionally, spiritually, or otherwise), You are always with us. Be gracious toward us as we seek only Your way. It is in Your good and Holy Name we pray, Amen.
