Verse of the Day: If I Do Not Have Love, I Am Nothing–1 Corinthians 13:2
“If I have all faith, so that I can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing” -I Corinthians 13:2.
Did you catch that? If we have faith strong enough to move mountains, but do not have love, we are still nothing. Love, in God’s economy, is that important! What’s more — the absence of love in our lives will leave a devastating void. When it is not present, our spirituality becomes superficial, our deeds self-centered, our sacrifices insincere, our relationships dry up. In any relationship — even encounters with stranger’s (our “neighbor”) — where love is not the motivation, we can expect life to feel bland and unfulfilling (if not meaningless), and for blessings to be minimal at best. Remember, when asked to identify life’s greatest command, Jesus summed it up with: ‘To love the Lord with all your heart and with all your soul, and to love your neighbor as yourself’ (Matt. 22:36-40). Today, extend more mercy, more grace, more understanding. Love harder! What you give, you will receive.
“Lord, teach us what real love is. Help us to be a more loving people; to see things through Your eyes, and to act with Your heart. In Your Good and Holy Name we pray, Amen.”
