Test Me, Lord, and Try Me, Examine My Heart and My Mind–Psalm 26:1-2
Vindicate me, Lord,
for I have led a blameless life;
I have trusted in the Lord
and have not faltered.
2 Test me, Lord, and try me,
examine my heart and my mind…
It takes a lot of courage to ask God to test you; to examine your heart and your mind. It also takes humility and wisdom — the willingness to be examined and tested, to be made extremely uncomfortable, in order to be divinely transformed. A Godly transformation is not like the world’s transformation. While worldly transformation’s may produce exterior (surface) changes in our lives (new career, more money, a move across town, etc.), a Godly transformation changes us as a person. These changes start on the inside and move to the outside, subsequently producing exterior (and supernatural) changes. Most importantly, when God enters our hearts and our minds, rightly re-ordering our natural dispositions and inclinations, we not only secure our salvation (and assist others in theirs), we also experience here what most only dream of: Heaven on earth.
While it may feel intimidating to “invite God in” – you will never regret it. While it won’t be easy, it will be worth it … for, at the end of the day, what does it profit a man to gain the whole world but lose his soul? (Mark 8:36)
