As you pray this incredible prayer, pay close attention to the sheer power of your Lord: “Come and see what the Lord has done for me, the desolations He has brought on earth. You make wars cease to the ends of the earth…”.
Pray powerfully and sincerely, knowing that He is God.
A Prayer for Times of Crisis — Psalm 46
“God, You are my refuge and my strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore I will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging.
There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
the Holy place where my Most High dwells.
You are within me, Lord, I will not fall;
You will help me at the break of day.
Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall;
You lift Your voice and the earth melts away.
The Lord Almighty is with me;
the God of Jacob is my fortress.
Come and see what the Lord has done,
the desolations He has brought on earth.
You, Lord, make wars cease
to the ends of the earth.
You break the bow and shatter the spear;
You burn the shields with fire.
You say to me, “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted over all the earth.”
Yes, the Lord Almighty is with me now;
the God of Jacob is my fortress everlasting.”
Throughout this psalm, the invitation to be still and to seek God takes place in the middle of chaos and worldly drama, not in a quiet sanctuary – or in the stillness of life. As you pray this powerful psalm over your situation today, and perhaps over the turbulent issues of the world as well, look for God’s beautiful fingerprints therein … specifically amidst any chaos or crisis. No matter where you find yourself today, God is with you – and He is perfectly in control. Trust Him.
