Daily Devotion: Open Door or Closed Door? You Choose–Revelation 3:8

“See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut” –Revelation 3:8.

Daily Devotion: Are we opening the door or are we closing the door?

It is difficult to stay calm these days. The barrage of negativity takes its toll physically, emotionally and spiritually. In times of uncertainty, people tend to have two primary reactions: fear or faith. Ultimately, fear will keep us from trusting God and feeling good. It will keep us in a cycle of grumbling and drudgery…which makes life as a whole feel meaningless. Faith on the other hand, gives us the assurance needed to go through life confidently–even when we don’t have answers.

The Bible makes clear that faith is strengthened by hearing (and reading) the Word of God (Romans 10:17); and 1 John 4:18 reminds us that fear can not abide where faith is. Jesus Christ wants so much more for us than to live in a state of worry and angst. He did not come to close the doors on us; He came to open them. Scripture, history and personal witness offer ample testimony of this — seemingly ‘ordinary lives’ being completely transformed by faith in Christ.

A life of peace, joy, protection and provision is ours for the taking with faith. Turn to Jesus today and He will open the door for you.

Lord, Jesus, thank You for the open doors. Thank you for extending Your grace and for patiently leading us towards lives of love, joy and peace. We pray that You would continue to fill our lives with new perspectives, purpose and meaning–regardless of circumstance. We love You, and pray this all in Your Great Name. Amen.
