Feast of the Divine Mercy: Strong Prayer for the Intercession of Saint Faustina

“I promise that the soul that will venerate this image will not perish,” Jesus told Sister Faustina, according to her diary, which has been studied and authenticated by the Church over several decades. “I also promise victory over enemies already here on earth, especially at the hour of death. I Myself will defend it as My own glory” (Diary 48).

Intercessory Prayer to Saint Sister Faustina

Saint Faustina,
You told us that your mission would continue after your death
and that you would not forget us.
Our Lord also granted you a great privilege,
telling you to “distribute graces as you will,
to whom you will, and when you will.
Relying on this, I ask your intercession
for the graces I need,
(mention your special intentions here).
Help me, above all, to trust in Jesus as you did
and thus to glorify His mercy every moment of my life.

*Say this prayer of intention at 3 o’clock everyday with your whole heart, mind and soul.

About Sister Faustina and Divine Mercy

In 1931, our Lord appeared to Sister Faustina in a vision. She saw Jesus clothed in a white garment with His right hand raised in blessing. His left hand was touching His garment in the area of the Heart, from which two large rays came forth, one red and the other a pale-like water color. She gazed intently at the Lord in silence, her soul filled with awe and great joy.

Jesus instructed Sister Faustina to paint an image according to what she was seeing (our Lord) with the now famous signature: “Jesus, I trust in You.” Among all the elements of devotion to the Divine Mercy, requested by our Lord through Faustina, the Feast of Mercy holds first place.

The devotional practices revealed through Saint Faustina were given to us as “vessels of mercy” through which God’s love can be poured out upon the world. But they are not sufficient unto themselves. We must also show mercy to our neighbors. Our Lord spoke strongly about this to St. Faustina, saying (as written in her diary):

“I demand from you deeds of mercy which are to arise out of love for me. You are to show mercy to your neighbors always and everywhere. You must not shrink from this or try to excuse yourself from it” (Diary p. 742).

How do we radiate God’s mercy to our neighbors? By our actions, our words and our prayers.

“As you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did to Me” –Matthew 25:35-40.

“Blessed are the merciful, for the shall obtain mercy” –Matthew 5:7.

The Divine Mercy Novena begins on Good Friday and ends on the Sunday following Easter Sunday. The celebration of the Divine Mercy, called The Feast of the Divine Mercy, is celebrated on that second Sunday following Easter. The Divine Mercy prayer is said every day at 3pm throughout this Holy week.
