Turn and Answer Me, O Lord! – Psalm 13:3-4

Turn and answer me, O Lord my God!
    Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death,
and my enemy will say, “I have overcome him,”
    and my foes will rejoice when I fall.

There is an age old saying that the eyes are the window to the soul. You can probably describe many times when you have looked into someone’s eyes and saw their sadness, pain, or regret. Other times, the eyes have shown joy and excitement — what we might refer to as the “sparkle.”

When we go through tough seasons of life, the light of our eyes fade. When we lose hope, joy or peace, our eyes tell the story. If you feel like your “sparkle” has faded away as of late, there is good news! Restoration is only a single prayer away! Take some time today and ask the Lord to lift your spirit and return the light to your eyes. As the Psalmist did, humbly ask of Him to turn to you and answer you. The Lord wants you to live a life filled with His Light and glory. He is happy to restore all that has been lost. But we must do our part. We must approach the Throne of Grace with a confident trust that He is able to do what we ask. Because, through faith, He can and He will!

Lord, as we stare down the path of another day, full of possibility and miracle, we pray to have our eyes opened to all Your goodness and splendor. We humbly request to have our spirit lifted and the Light and sparkle restored to our eyes. We also pray to be filled with Your all-loving and all-consuming presence today and always. Amen.
