Whom have I in Heaven but You?
And earth has nothing I desire besides You.
God is our portion forever. He is our be all and end all; our full portion both here on earth as well as in Heaven. When God declared to Moses, “I Am,” He declared how all-encompassing His presence is. He is everywhere at all times and for eternity. When we begin to fathom the greatness and endless love of our Lord, we begin to feel in our soul that yes, God is indeed everything. He is all we need and all we will ever need. We begin to understand why from the beginning of time, our earliest ancestors have proclaimed and celebrated this fact.
No matter what you are going through today, prayerfully reflect on the fact that the Lord is your all. There is nothing in Heaven or on earth that is greater than He. His love is all you need. While everything else will fail and pass away, the Lord will not. He is your promised portion today, tomorrow and forever.
Holy God, You are the reason for life; for all created lives and for eternal life. Thank You for Your love … a love that is infinite and able to sustain all we need. While our bodies will fail and this earthly life and everything in it will pass us by, thank You for being with us forevermore. You are all we need both in this life and in the one to come. Amen.
