Daily Devotion: Growing in Faith–Mark 9:24

Many Christian’s urge fellow believers to “just believe!” but it’s not always that easy, especially when the storm clouds are closing in around you.

Fortunately, through the grace of God, it is possible to develop a sincere and mature faith even in the toughest seasons of life. In fact, it is often in the darkest moments we find the light; pushed to grow in (spiritual) areas we needed most. Think back over your life for a moment. Try to recall an incident when something out of the ordinary happened. Something, for example, that either helped or protected you. Did you thank God for it? Did you feel His presence? The incident may not have been anything big or significant but, for many people, it’s often these moments when the seeds of faith are planted. But in order for them to continue growing, they must be watered daily. Recognizing small seemingly insignificant moments of divine intervention throughout our day, and thanking God for them, is a great place to start!

If you’ve been looking for ways to strengthen your faith lately, start by remembering small answers to prayer or supernatural occurrences that happened when you needed it most. Then thank God for His constant care and endless provision and protection for you. In so doing, your faith will not only grow stronger and deeper but, before you know it, you’ll begin to receive bigger revelations from God. And that’s when faith gets real. That is when we begin to experience God up close and personal as our Heavenly Father. The old adage is even more true in the spiritual Law: The more we believe, the more we will receive.
