Verse of the Day

Verse of the Day: Seek His Kingdom and All These Things Will Be Given to You–Luke 12:29-31

Verse of the Day: Seek His Kingdom and All These Things Will Be Given to You–Luke 12:29-31

“As for you, do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, and do not worry anymore. All the nations of the world seek for these things, and your Father knows that you need them. Instead, seek His Kingdom, and these other things will be given you besides” –Luke 12:29-31.

Throughout the Gospel, we are told (in various ways) to detach ourselves from worldly possessions. The things of this world that do not and will not last. Materialistic “stuff” that can serve as a (major) distraction along our spiritual journey and pathway Home (“Take care to guard against all greed, for though one may be rich, one’s life does not consist of possessions” –Luke 12:15).

Detachment from worldly goods means that we have no anxiety about our basic necessities. We believe wholeheartedly that God will provide for us just as He has promised. If we do our part by securing our basic needs (doing what we must as participants on earth), and trusting in Him completely while sincerely seeking His will, we can be assured that He will provide everything we need. The beauty of God’s creation around us is itself a beautiful testimony to His existence and divine providence.

Today, as you meditate on this verse, let all your worries fade away. Trust completely in your Heavenly Father and in His Word. Surrender your life to His care. And then get busy enjoying the divine gift of today. (Psalm 118:24)
