Verse of the Day: Do Not Despise the Chastening of the Lord–Proverbs 3:11-12

Verse of the Day: Do Not Despise the Chastening of the Lord–Proverbs 3:11-12

“My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, nor detest His correction; for whom the Lord loves He corrects, just as a father the son in whom he delights”Proverbs 3:11-12.

Have you ever felt like God was dealing with you too harshly? Have you ever belted out, ‘Why, God, why?!’ If you have, consider yourself blessed. This may seem counterintuitive to the way we feel but, according to the divine Word of Proverbs, the Lord chastens those He loves (v 11). Whatever correction God has, is or will perform in your life, is for your good and because He loves you. Just think of it: the Creator of Heaven and earth, the Lord Almighty above all things, has His eye on you. He is with you – watching you – wanting to make sure you travel down the best path – the blessed path! He wants, above all else, for you to travel down the road that brings you closest to Him – ending at the magnificent destination He has always had planned for you.

The next time you feel His mighty hand convicting you, praise Him for His unwavering love for you. Thank Him for caring enough about you to protect and guide you in all your ways, all of your days. Everything the Lord does is out of love for you and for your greater glory. Amen.
