Powerful Prayer for Patience

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer” –Romans 12:12.

Powerful Prayer for Patience:

You’ve probably heard it said before: Patience is virtue. And it’s true. Patience is indeed virtuous –  one of the twelve fruits of the Holy Spirit in fact (Gal. 5:22). Many times when our faith is being tested, our patience is also being tested. Having to wait for an answered prayer or something we believe we need, is challenging to say the least. But we must always remember that God’s timing is perfect. He may not be a minute early, but He’s definitely not a minute late either. Faith is a requirement in God’s economy – and if we say we have faith, we must also trust God – and that includes trusting His timing!  If your faith is being tested today, pass the test by trusting God wholeheartedly. Show Him You trust Him by staying patient and peaceful even when it doesn’t look like anything’s happening. When weeks are turning into months, and months into years, keep praising God! Believe He is about to deliver you – because He is!  The best way to remain patient (or to deal with impatience) is through prayer. Everything happens through prayer!

The next time you’re feeling impatient or need God to help you remain patient, pray this powerful prayer. Prayer has a supernatural way of calming our nerves and settling our minds while we wait for deliverance. As you pray, listen for the Holy Spirit. What do you hear God saying to you? If you don’t hear anything at all, that’s okay too. Pray this prayer whenever you need to, and God will speak to you (and move on your behalf) at the perfect time. Trust Him.

Let’s begin:

Powerful Prayer for Patience

“O God, Who didst crush the pride of the enemy by the long-suffering
of Thine Only-begotten Son,
Grant, we beseech Thee, that we may worthily recall those things which
in His tender love He bore for us;
and thus following His example may patiently endure all our adversities.

Teach me, my Lord, to be sweet, gentle and patient in all areas of my life –
in disappointments, in the thoughtlessness of others, in the insincerity
of those I trusted, in the unfaithfulness of those on whom I relied.
Let me forget myself so that I may enjoy the happiness of others.

Let me always hide my little pains and heartaches so that I may be
the only one to suffer from them.
Teach me to profit by the suffering that comes through waiting.
Let me so use it that it may mellow me, not harden or embitter me;
that it may make me more patient, not irritable; that it may make

me broad in my forgiveness, not narrow or proud or overbearing.
May no one be less good for having come within my influence; no one
less pure, less true, less kind, less noble, for having been a fellow

traveler with me on this journey towards eternal life.
As I meet and carry one cross after another, let me whisper a word

of love to You.
May my life be lived in the supernatural – full of power for good,

and strong in its purpose of sanctity.

My dearest Jesus, teach me to be patient, when all day long my heart
is troubled by little troublesome crosses.
I believe in You. I wait for You. In You I trust forevermore.
In Your Good and Holy Name I pray,
Amen.”

Jesus never promised our earthly pilgrimage to be easy, but He did promise to be with us through it. When we pray and earnestly seek His will, He promises to give us the grace needed to persevere. Anytime you are feeling impatient or need extra strength, pray this powerful prayer. Offer everything up to and for the Lord.

Please share this Powerful Prayer for Patience with anyone else who also may be struggling in this area.

“Have patience with all things, but chiefly have patience with yourself. Do not lose courage in considering your own imperfections, but instantly set about remedying them — every day begin the task anew” -St. Francis de Sales.
