6 Psalms for Stronger Faith – By Dean Marini

Praise

Psalm 146:1-2

Praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord, my soul.
I will praise the Lord all my life;
    I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.

Praise is one of the most critical parts of a fruitful relationship with God. When Christ taught His Disciples to pray, He always began with praise. Having an attitude of gratitude towards the Lord keeps things in proper perspective. We remain humble in times of blessing and in lack because we know that God always gives us more than we deserve. Fear then cannot overwhelm us in times of trouble because we remember God’s previous provision and deliverance.

Surrender

Psalm 91:14-16

14 “Because He loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
    I will protect him, for he acknowledges My Name.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him;
    I will be with him in trouble,
    I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him
    and show him My salvation.”

Jesus invites all who are weary to come to Him, and He will give them rest (Matt. 11:28). Surrendering to Christ is not an admission of defeat. It is the ultimate victory! When we read this powerful passage, we learn how deep and vast the Father’s love is for us. Knowing He loves us this much makes it easier for us to trust Him completely. And that is exactly what He wants.

Allow

Psalm 37:23-24

23 The Lord makes firm the steps
    of the one who delights in Him;
24 though he may stumble, he will not fall,
    for the Lord upholds him with His hand.

Human beings struggle with giving up control of their lives. Even though we know God is infinitely more qualified, we wrestle with Him in order to be in charge. Allow God to guide your life. He has the Wisdom and strength to make your life the best it can be — and He fully desires to do just that.

Love

Psalm 41:1-2

Blessed are those who have regard for the weak;
    the Lord delivers them in times of trouble.
The Lord protects and preserves them—
    they are counted among the blessed in the land—
    He does not give them over to the desire of their foes.

The people of God are known by their love. Jesus told us the greatest commandment was to love God with all our heart, mind, soul and strength … and to love our neighbors as ourselves. The world we live in is filled with hatred, bigotry, jealousy and selfishness. When we love as the Lord loves we not only please Him, we help others too. That releases His protection and blessing over our lives.

Maintain

Psalm 112:6-8

Surely the righteous will never be shaken;
    they will be remembered forever.
They will have no fear of bad news;
    their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord.
Their hearts are secure, they will have no fear;
    in the end they will look in triumph on their foes.

This passage reminds us to be steadfast in our walk, relying on faith and not our sight. When we maintain a close walk with God, trusting Him regardless of the circumstance, fear no longer defeats us. With God, we are always victorious!

Serve

Psalm 12:5

“Because the poor are plundered and the needy groan,
    I will now arise,” says the Lord,
    “I will protect them from those who malign them.”

When we call ourselves Christians, we are saying we are “of Christ.”  Being of Him means being like Him. At the last supper Jesus told His followers, “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many” (Mk 10:45). Truly loving God means to truly serve others.

There is no better time to start meditating on and studying these 6 Fool Proof Psalms for Stronger Faith in order to strengthen your walk with the Lord. Allow these divine words to guide you into a more effective and loving relationship with your Heavenly Father. Nothing is more important (or more gratifying) than that.
