Verse of the Day: The Eyes of the Lord Are On Those Who Fear Him–Psalm 33:18-19
“But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear Him, on those whose hope is in His unfailing love, to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine” –Psalm 33:18-19.
We should all desire the eyes of the Lord to be on us. The first verse of this stanza says that the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear Him. Used in this context, fear is a form of respect and honor – a reverential fear of the Lord. His eyes are also on those whose hopes remain in Him – an unwavering trust that He will deliver His people, keeping them alive even in the most tragic of events such as famine (v 19). This psalm is a strong reminder to honor the Lord in all your ways (reverential fear), and to never stop believing in His ability to act on your behalf. No matter what happens, personally or globally, so long as you keep your eyes fixed on God, no harm will overtake you. His eyes will also be fixed firmly on you.
