Psalm 4:1-3: Answer Me When I Call to You, Lord!
1 Answer me when I call to You,
my righteous God.
Give me relief from my distress;
have mercy on me and hear my prayer.
2 How long will you people turn My glory into shame?
How long will you love delusions and seek false gods?
3 Know that the Lord has set apart His faithful servant for Himself;
the Lord hears when I call to Him” –Psalm 4:1-3.
The psalmist pleads with God to ‘have mercy’ on him. If you want your prayers answered, ask in humility. Ask for forgiveness and mercy first, and then turn from any sin holding you back. God asks the psalmist how long people will turn His ‘glory into shame’? How long they will love ‘delusions’ and chase after false gods (money, power, fame, man-made ideologies, etc). The Good Lord makes clear: He will set you apart for Himself if you are faithful to Him. He will hear you when you call to Him.
[Read over this truth-giving psalm. Meditate on what God is asking for and then, with His grace, do it. He hears you.]
