Daily Devotion: Ignite the Spark by Going To God–John 1:16
There will be times in life when circumstances will get you down. If you are feeling depressed, anxious or even spiritually apathetic, it is up to you to reignite your spark. It’s time to refresh your spirit! How do you do this? Enter (or re-enter) into an intimate relationship with the living Christ, your best friend, by spending quality time with Him. Set aside fifteen to thirty minutes a day in quiet prayer and meditation.
Like a needy and beloved Child would, tell God about what’s been keeping you up at night. Scripture exhorts, “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7). Don’t hold back in telling Him about your deepest troubles and concerns. He wants to hear from you. And while you are there, listen for His reply. By setting this precious time aside for Jesus, you will begin to experience a peace and joy that only comes through Him. A feeling only God can give.
Through the gift of His grace, you will unravel a more meaningful and purpose-driven direction for your life. By following through with this routine, your life will be crowned with unmerited favor.
Today, reignite the spark! Go to Jesus, spend time with Him, and then … trust Him to do the rest.
“Lord, thank You for loving us. Because we are allowed to have a relationship with You, we have a reason to celebrate life no matter the circumstance. Help us to lean on Your promises all the days of our lives. Amen.”
