Daily Devotion: The future is what exists. What will yours look like?
Perhaps your past tells a story of frustration, mistakes or missed opportunity. You feel today as though your life has spiraled into an un-inspiring, dull experience filled with regret. Nothing feels worthwhile.
But here is a simple truth: The future belongs to you. The future is what exists, not the past. Every day is another opportunity from God to seek and pursue your true purpose. But you will only be able to unwrap and fully enjoy this gift after you’ve let go of the past and surrendered your will for His will.
Here is another simple truth. Achieving your God-given purpose in life (which is what we should all be after) depends solely on your relationship with Jesus Christ, your Lord and Savior. If you do not have one, how will you know which way to go? How do you know it’s the best way? The intended way? You simply do not. If your life does not have a spiritual foundation, build one–and build it quickly. Time is precious and it’s going fast. If your life has a spiritual foundation, it must also have a spiritual goal. More of Jesus, less of yourself (humility). More time with God, less focus on worldly and temporary issues (building virtue). Ridding yourself of negative self-talk and trusting God (faith). Just to name a few…
It is by acknowledging spiritual truth’s and applying them to our lives that we will guarantee deliverance, fulfillment, peace and joy this side of Heaven (and that’s not even considering the next…). It is then we can fully utilize God’s ultimate gift of living life to the fullest. And the best part is? It is never too late to get started.
Today, let the past go; and trust God with your future. He has the greatest plan for your life… and the door is open right now.
Thank You Jesus for giving us the precious gift of life. Thank you also for the gift of everlasting-life through Your crucifixion on the cross. Help us to strengthen our faith and to fully surrender today. Amen.
