Psalm of the Day

Psalm of the Day: More Valuable than Gold–Psalm 119:71-73

The decrees of the Lord are firm and all of them are righteous. They are [indeed] more precious than gold” –Psalm 19:9-10.

Psalm of the Day:

“It was good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn Your decrees. The law from Your mouth is more precious to me than thousands of pieces of silver and gold. Your hands made me and formed me; give me the understanding to learn Your commands”Psalm 119:71-73.

Sometimes it is through our afflictions–our pain and hardships–that we acquire and appreciate the most prized currency of all: the Lord and His precepts. While gold can buy many man-made and materialistic goods, it can not buy what’s most valuable — peace, joy, divine insight or eternal life. Make no mistake, there is nothing on this earth more valuable than our Heavenly Father’s eternal and infallible Wisdom. The good news is by praying to God for her (James 1:5), seeking her out (Proverbs 2:2, 4-5), and cherishing her when we find her (Proverbs 4:8), we too can enjoy in this Heavenly gift.

There is no true Wisdom apart from the Lord’s testimony. Stay close to His Word and teachings; and before you know it, you will be one of the richest people alive.

“Don’t be passive. Listen, seek, pursue. She is found by those who prize her and pray for her and pursue her” -John Piper.
