Daily Devotion: Seeking Faith, Not Answers–John 14:19

“Before long, the world will not see Me anymore, but you will see Me. Because I live, you also will live –John 14:19.

Daily Devotion: Are you seeking more faith or just answers?

Many people (especially today) harbor mixed emotions about the future–anxiety, stress, depression– and oftentimes it’s because of the unknown. Human beings like to know (with at least some certainty) what is going to happen…and if not, we become discouraged and doubtful. The fact of the matter is though, we will never really know what the future holds. Only Jesus Christ knows that. And, we are not called to have all the answers either; we are called to have faith. Faith in the One Who orders our every step.

Having faith in Jesus relieves us from the pressure of having to figure it all out. Believing in His Word and promises allows us the freedom to enjoy our lives despite not having answers. Instead of focusing on what will or will not happen, focus instead on this precious gift of today.

Even if the future looks bleak at times, we can rest assured that our lives and our futures are in God’s hands. He is in control of everything. We can be joyful amidst uncertainty because of Who Christ is—the Rock in which we build our lives upon. And what’s more? His grace is sufficient for every day of our lives…we need only to be still and trust Him.

Today, don’t seek answers. Seek Jesus.

Heavenly Father, through all these changing circumstances of life–in joy and in sorrow, good times and in bad–our hearts will sing Your great praises. We thank You for the abundant life you’ve made possible for each of us. We love you so much. Amen.
