6 Powerful Reasons to Follow Jesus instead of the World

Spread the Psalms

When you are tempted to follow the temporal and futile ways of the world, reflect on the eternal promises of God.  Promises offered to every believer by way of faith in Jesus Christ.

6 Powerful Reasons to follow Jesus today and every day:

1. Eternal life

Salvation comes only through Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12), the golden key to eternal life.  Scripture tells us that Heaven is a real place where the people of God will live one day—with Him and with His Holy angels.  We don’t deserve this eternal Paradise on our own merit but, because of His saving grace, are blessed to call it Home when we believe.  A magical place with no more sin, no more pain and no more tears (Revelation 21:1-4).

“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not parish but have eternal life” -John 3:16.

2. Peace

Every human being needs peace, joy and harmony in their lives.  Life on earth is not easy…it’s filled with disruption and uncertainty (John 16:33).  However, the Good Lord promised that when we follow Him, we will enjoy a divine Peace that transcends our limited understanding. The Peace He gives is not dependent on situation, circumstance or the ways of the world.

“And the Peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” -Philippians 4:7.

3. Ultimate Vindicator

There will be situations that occur that are not fair.  Injustice is unfortunately a ‘way of the world.’  However, our God is a just God. A God Who not only protects His children but promises also to make things right again—to compensate double for the trouble (Isaiah 61:7).  Never seek revenge—God alone is your vindicator.

“My Vindicator is close by; let whoever dares to accuse me appear with me in court! Let whoever has a case against me [dare to] step forward!” -Isaiah 50:8.

4. Everlasting Love

God is love and we are created in His image (Genesis 1:27).  Giving love and being loved is part of our divine DNA—a necessary component of life.  The ways of the world however, do not often operate on a divine economy or set of principles.  In fact, many people today confess they find it challenging to love their neighbor or don’t feel loved by others at all.  As individualistic mind-sets spread, love is subsequently spread thin.  Fortunately for believers in Christ, there is an endless and eternal fountain of love to bathe in.  God’s love is abundant, constant and unfailing.  We love others because He  first loved us (1 John 4:19)

“For I am convinced that neither death or life, neither angels or demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord” -Romans 8:38-39.

5. Answered Prayer

Prayer is a way to communicate our faith, praise, gratitude, needs and wants to the higher courts.  A spiritual act which enables us to become more like Jesus.  Praying has the ability to reveal the heart, mind and will of God in our lives.  Simply put, we need to pray—for ourselves, our lives, and for others.  A famous quote is, “I have so much to do so I’ll spend the first hours of my day in prayer” (see 1 These 5:17).  Prayer doesn’t change God, it changes us…and it’s a gift (a divine point of entry) for every believer.

“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us; and if we know that HE hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of Him” -John 5:14-15.

6. The Impossible becomes Possible

When we follow Jesus, we are able to do all things according to His will, riches and glory in Heaven (see Philippians 4:13-19).  That simply means that what used to be impossible, is now possible with and through the divinity and power of Jesus Christ.  Even when there seems to be no pathway forward—no door to open—when all earthly ways appear unlikely, God will call that which does not yet exist into existence (Romans 4:17).

“Jesus looked at them and said, ‘With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible’” -Matthew 19:26.
