Verse of the Day: November 19th — James 1:19-20
“Know this, my dear brothers [and sisters]: everyone should be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath, for the wrath of a man does not accomplish the righteousness of God.”
—James 1:19-20
To be ‘quick to hear’ the Gospel message means to accept it readily and to act in conformity with it. Acting in conformity with the Gospel — or obeying what it says — removes from our lives whatever forces are working in opposition to God. In so doing, the Word has the opportunity to take root in our soul and effect divine and transformative change. If we ignore the Gospel message however, by listening to it and not acting, we miss an incredible opportunity to not only better our lives but to come into agreement with the divine will of God. Only conformity to God’s Law will bring about anointed change and lasting freedom.
So today, if you find yourself struggling, stressed and anxious … turn it all over to God. Pick up your Bible and read what He is saying to you today; be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger; and then accomplish the Lord’s righteousness by bringing the Light of Christ out into a world that desperately needs you. In return, the good Lord will bless you in unimaginable ways. He will restore back to you all that has been lost.
Today’s Prayer
“Lord Jesus, Father of Light, help us to readily hear Your message today. We pray to accept the Gospel message in its entirety, and to act in conformity with it. We humbly ask of You, Lord, to remove whatever it is in our lives that prevents us from obeying Your will. In addition, we pray for the courage to carry Your light into the world by living out Your holy exhortations. We know that it is only in obedience to Your perfect and divine will that we will find true and lasting freedom; a freedom bringing us closer to You and into a state of peace and harmony. We pray this all in the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen.”
