Powerful Prayer: Thank God for My Salvation–Psalm 118

“I give thanks to You, Lord, for You are good;
    Your love endures forever.

Let Israel say:
    “His love endures forever.”
Let the house of Aaron say:
    “His love endures forever.”
Let all of us who reverently fear You say:
    “His love endures forever.”

When hard pressed, I cry out to You Lord;
    You bring me into a spacious place.
You, Lord, are with me; I will not be afraid.
    What can mere mortals do to me?
For You, Lord, are with me; You are my ever-present helper.
    I look in triumph on my enemies.

It is better to take refuge in You Lord
    than to trust in humans…
It is better to take refuge in You Lord
    than to trust in princes.
All the nations surround me,
    but in the Name of my Lord I cut them down.
They surround me on every side,
    but in the Name of my Lord I cut them down.
They swarm around me like bees,
    but they are consumed as quickly as burning thorns;
    in the Name of the Lord I cut them down.
I am pushed back and about to fall,
    but my Good Lord helps me.
You, Lord, are my strength and my defense;
    You have always been my salvation.

Shouts of joy and victory
    resound in the tents of the righteous:
“The Lord’s right hand has done mighty things!
    The Lord’s right hand is lifted high;
    the Lord’s right hand has done mighty things!”
I will not die but live,
    and will proclaim what You have done.
You may chasten me severely,
    but You have not given me over to death.
Open for me the gates of the righteous;
    I will enter and give thanks to my Lord.
This is the gate of Yours, Lord,
    through which only the righteous may enter.
I will give You thanks, for You answer me;
    You have always been my salvation.

The stone the builders rejected
    has become the cornerstone of the world;
You, my Lord, have done this,
    and it is marvelous in our eyes.
You Lord have done it this very day;
    let us rejoice today and be glad.

Lord, save us!
    Lord, grant us success!

Blessed are we who come in the Name of the Lord.
    From our houses you provide for us, we bless Your Holy Name.
You Lord are God,
    and You have made Your light shine on us.
With boughs in hand, we join in the festal procession
    up to the horns of the altar.

You are my God, and I will praise You always;
    You are my God, and I will exalt You forevermore.

Give thanks to the Lord, for You are good;
    Your love endures forever.
Amen!”
