Daily Devotion: Remain in Me, and I will Remain in You–John 15:4
The stars still shine whether the clouds are out or not. Similarly, the eternal love of your Heavenly Father shines whether walking in a dark valley or not. If you have cultivated trust in Him, your faith will carry you through the darkest, most troubling, moments of life.
The life Jesus has promised for us, however, is conditional. We are blessed with His unfathomable graces when we “remain in Him.” Doing so is such a challenge for most people today that many hesitate to accept the divine (and eternal) offer. Instead they remain in a perpetual state of either spiritual apathy (a spiritual rut), which promotes neither joy nor spiritual growth, or rejection all together.
The life that Christ promises is more magical than we can fathom. It is also so much more than an emotional experience or motivational speech from time to time. This new way of living creates real and lasting change – transformative change – and delivers an inner peace and purpose you cannot have outside of Him. Perhaps the most amazing aspect of living the life Christ has promised His true disciples is the indwelling of the Holy Spirit Who makes the impossible possible.
Today, invite Him in. Trust Him. Abide in Him; and He will abide in you.
“Holy Father, in Whom we love and trust so much, we praise and glorify You for the life-changing strength, courage and mercy You extend to us. In Your mighty Name we forever pray, Amen.”
