Daily Devotion: Reaching Your Ultimate Goals–1 Kings 2:3

“and observe what the Lord your God requires: Walk in obedience to Him, and keep His decrees and commands, His laws and regulations, as written in the Law of Moses. Do this so that you may prosper in all you do and wherever you go” -1 Kings 2:3.

Daily Devotion: Reaching Your Ultimate Goals–1 Kings 2:3

Few people can (honestly) say that success doesn’t matter to them. Not only are we hard-wired to succeed, but we live in a world driven by success. For that same reason, many find failure unbearable. So much so in fact, they’d rather give up their passions and dreams altogether than bear the risk of failing.

First understand this: Being truly successful is much different than our own limited perceptions of it. Real success to our Lord is not about money, status, power or fame. While that may follow certain endeavors, that is not at all God’s primary concern. Your relationship with Him, character development, and well-stewardship of gifts are. In addition, and simply put, it is impossible to be truly successful through our own ability. We need Jesus Christ’s guidance and support every step of the way.

Following our passions and desires and not giving up is a good thing. Success is also a good thing — so long as the living Christ is our first priority and partner in all of life’s decisions. If this is the case, rest assured you will succeed. Everything you put your hands to will prosper and bring forth a deep and lasting sense of fulfillment. And, any amount of success achieved with the Lord is infinitely more valuable than from the world. After all, success with Jesus is not only supernatural — but eternal.

Eyes fixed on Jesus. Then, keep going!
