Our Lady of Good Success – 9 Day Novena
In 1610, the Blessed Virgin Mary and Jesus appeared to Venerable Mother Mariana de Jesus Torres in Quito, Ecuador, giving prophecies of a coming crisis in the Church and of several infallible papal dogmatic decrees.
At one point our Lady said to Mother Mariana, “Oh, if only human beings and religious knew what Heaven is and what it is to possess God, how differently they would live, sparing no sacrifice in order to enter more fully into possession of it! But some let themselves be dazzled by the false glamour of honors and human greatness while others are blinded by self-love, not realizing that they are falling into lukewarmness, that immense evil which in religious houses destroys their fervor, humility, self-renunciation and the ceaseless practice of religious virtues and fraternal charity and that child-like simplicity which makes souls so dear to my Divine Son and to me, their Mother.”
The truth is, true devotion to Our Lady has never been so crucial to the life of the soul as it is today – especially given the present situation in the Church and current state of the world. Thus, it has never been more important nor time sensitive to have recourse to our Mother in all our spiritual and temporal needs. One of the most powerful ways of doing this is by praying the Our Lady of Good Success – 9 Day Novena.
Before beginning the prayer, turn to her with confidence and say: “Star of the stormy seas of my mortal life, may your light shine up on me so that I do not stray from the path that leads me to Heaven.”

- Holy Souls (those in Heaven and in Purgatory);
- Holy Souls who had their funeral Masses at your Church;
- Holy Souls who received any sacraments at your Church;

O most Excellent and Immaculate Queen of Heaven, Holy Mary of Good Success, most favored Daughter of the Eternal Father, most beloved Mother of the Divine Son, most cherished Spouse of the Holy Spirit, sublime Throne of the Divine Majesty, August Temple of the Holy Trinity, in whom the Three Divine Persons (Father, Son, and Holy Ghost) have placed the treasures of Their Power, Wisdom, and Love:
Remember, Virgin Mary of Good Success, whom God hath made so great so that thou canst give succor to miserable sinners; remember that thou has often promised to show thyself a merciful Mother to those who have recourse to thee. I come to thee then, Mother most merciful, and I beg thee, for thy love of the Most High, that thou shouldst obtain for me from God the Father a lively faith that never loses sight of the eternal truths; from the Son, a firm hope that always aspires to reach that glory that He won for me with His Blood; and from the Holy Ghost, a charity so inflamed that I will always live loving the Supreme Goodness and thee, Most Holy Virgin, until through thy intervention I will love and enjoy thee eternally in glory. Note: The Our Lady of Good Success Novena traditionally begins on January 24th (concluding on February 1st), however, this Novena is so powerful that it should be considered and prayed any day or month throughout the year.
Conclusion
Just as in the time of Venerable Mother Mariana de Jesus Torres, we are living in an even greater time of crisis of Faith and morals – just as was prophesied by Our Lady. The confusion or, diabolical disorientation, is of such magnitude that it’s not only subverting the temporal sphere but also penetrating inside the walls of the Church itself. Indeed, as Our Lady prophesied, the corruption of customs has become increasingly generalized and the precious light of Faith almost extinct. Yet, despite the strong warnings, the message of Our Lady of Good Success does conclude with a note of great hope:
“When everything will seem lost and paralyzed, that will be the happy beginning of the complete restoration. This will mark the arrival of my hour, when I, in a marvelous way, will dethrone the proud and cursed Satan, trampling him under my feet and fettering him in the infernal abyss.”
It is also the promise echoed by Our Lady again at Fatima in 1917: “In the end, My Immaculate Heart will triumph,” and indeed gives so much hope.
Thus, it seems opportune to turn to Our Lady of Good Success today and invoke Her, begging for every good success possible – both temporal and spiritual. It is always the right moment to ask for her orientation and certainty amid the storms as well as the courage and strength to keep aloft the standard of the true Catholic Faith.
Finally, let us pray always that Our Lady will intervene quickly to restore the Church and her Truths as well as society so that she may reassume her throne and reign again in glory as Queen of all Heaven and earth.
