Daily Devotion: Having patience in prayer…
One of the most challenging aspects of being faithful is, perhaps, having patience. So often people complain that their prayers are going on unanswered, or not being heard at all. Slowly, they become impatient with God and their faith ultimately wanes.
It is an established and irrefutable fact that God not only hears every prayer but, in one way or another, He answers them too. However, we need to be familiar with God’s Word in order to understand His divine way of timing and purpose. Oftentimes when we pray, we’re praying according to our own desires, needs and time tables. God on the other hand, answers prayer according to His will and His timing–knowing what is best for us now and in the long run. Truly effective prayer requires us to trust Him and to have patience. In His time, He will answer our prayer according to what is best for our lives as well as for the Kingdom. Faith and patience is rewarded. Today, “let go and trust God!”
Father in Heaven, help us to strengthen our faith and patience during times of doubt and lack. Gently lead us back to Your unfailing Words of promise and constancy, and into the eternal assurance given to us in Christ Jesus. Amen.
