Verse of the Day: October 13th — Psalm 147:11
“The Lord takes pleasure in those who fear Him,
those who put their hope in His mercy.”
—Psalm 147:11
Acknowledging one’s dependence upon God rather than claiming self-sufficiency pleases God immensely. He takes great pleasure in those who reverently fear (respect) Him, obeying His commandments, and continuously renewing their hope in Him. Placing our hope in the Lord (and not ourselves) keeps us humble … and humility is the greatest virtue this side of Heaven. The virtue that single-handedly opens every other door…
“Lord Almighty, thank You for Your divine mercy. You are the great Healer, healing the hearts, minds and wounds of all Your people. While we may not understand Your mysterious ways and workings, we ask not to understand all things — but for a deepened virtue of humility; revering all Your ways. Strengthen our faith, Lord. Help us to love as You love; to love our enemies and forgive as You do; to pray for those who persecute us; and to show mercy in the lives of others as You continue to show unto us. Today and every day, we put all our hope in You. As the sons and daughters of the One true King, direct our hearts, motives and actions towards Your will, helping us to become all of whom You’ve created us to be. In Your good and Holy Name we pray. Amen.”
