Verse of the Day: Numbers 23:19

Verse of the Day: November 18th — Numbers 23:19

“God is not a man, that He would lie,
Nor a son of man, that He would change His mind;
Has He said, and will He not do it?
Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?”
–Numbers 23:19

In the Book of Numbers we see that it was God who guided the Israelites through the desert, showing them His justice, forgiveness, and mercy; providing for their needs; and reaffirming His commitment to them. We also see how the entire desert experience served as a period of preparation for God’s people to enter the Promised Land.

We can easily draw a parallel from this Biblical story to our own lives today. You may feel like you are going through your own ‘desert experience.’ You may feel lost, hopeless, tired and frustrated. But learn from the Israelites. Do not lean on your own understanding and try to figure everything out on your own. Instead, lean into God. Trust Him to see you through whatever it is you are going through. As you trust in His divine mercy, protection and grace, He will show you the way. And the way He has purposed for you, is the best way — the only way to the real Promised Land. Read the words of this Verse of the Day again: “God is not a man, that He would lie … Has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?”

What God has promised You, He will do; and what He has promised is for the greater good. No matter what is going on in your life today — no matter how things “appear” — trust Him.

Today’s Prayer:

“Lord Jesus, many of us feel like we are wandering around the desert today. The road seems long, burdensome and, oftentimes, lonely. While we pray for more of your guiding Light, we trust in Your guidance and protection. We trust also in Your Word and in Your promises. We believe that through this situation we now find ourselves in, that You are using it as a time of preparation for something great. So then, we offer up our current hardships for Your greater glory. We pray for the strength to carry our cross more courageously for others in need, and for Thy will to be done. We humbly pray this all in the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.”
